The Walton County Heritage Association (WCHA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, restoring, and promoting the rich history and cultural heritage of Walton County, Florida. Through the Walton County Heritage Museum and the Walton County Genealogy Society, the Association serves as a vital resource for exploring the county’s story—from its earliest inhabitants to the present day.
Our mission is to educate, inspire, and connect the community by safeguarding Walton County’s historical landmarks, artifacts, and traditions. We provide opportunities for residents and visitors to engage with local history through exhibits, research, and educational programs that celebrate the people and events that shaped our region.

What We Do
The Walton County Heritage Association works to preserve the past and inspire the future through historical preservation, education, and community collaboration.
At the Walton County Heritage Museum, visitors can explore a variety of exhibits that showcase the area’s development, from early settlement and natural environment to its modern communities. These exhibits serve as valuable educational resources that highlight the county’s unique contributions to Florida’s history.
The Association also preserves and promotes the legacy of the Florida Chautauqua, maintaining exhibits and programs that highlight its lasting impact on education, arts, and culture in Walton County. Through lectures, workshops, and community events, the WCHA continues the Chautauqua spirit of lifelong learning and civic engagement.
Through membership, volunteerism, and local partnerships, the WCHA brings people together to support historical preservation and education.
