Walton County Heritage Museum
Who We Are
An important part of the Walton County Heritage Association (WCHA) is the Walton County Heritage Museum. The city of DeFuniak Springs beautifully restored the former L&N Train Depot in 2000, and it has been the home of the museum since 2002. Through its extensive historical exhibits at the Walton County Heritage Museum, the association offers visitors an opportunity to explore the county’s past, from its early settlement days to its development into the vibrant community it is today. The association plays a vital role in educating the public about local traditions, historical events, and significant figures that have shaped the region.
The Walton County Heritage Museum offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich history and culture of the region through carefully curated exhibits that showcase artifacts, photographs, and stories spanning from early settlement to modern times. Visitors can gain insight into the diverse heritage of Walton County, including its Native American roots, pioneer life, and the development of local industries. The museum provides educational programs and community events that deepen understanding and appreciation of the area’s past. Whether you are a history enthusiast, a student, or a curious traveler, the museum’s engaging displays and knowledgeable staff make it an essential destination for discovering the heritage of Walton County.
