May 1917 Obituaries 1917 May 3-- Master Guy Davis, son of Mrs Annie McKinnon Davis, suffered a sad accident. Thelittle boy was about 10 yrs of age and was play about the barn and found some dynamite cap and fuseand lit the fuse and blew off the first 3 fingers and half of thumb of his left hand and bruisedhis face. 1917 May 10-- Mrs Robert Shine, formerly of this city but now living in Panama City died in Mont-gomery, Ala Monday May 6 and was buried at Opp, Ala Tuesday May 7.  In addition to hermother and one sister, she leaves a husband and two little girls. May 1917--   Mrs C E Morgan of Huntington W Va who wintered here died yesterday at her home in W Va.She left a host of friends here in DeFuniak Springs. 1917 May 17-- Clarence Thompson was accidentally killed Sunday night, by being struck in the backof the head by Jasper Brown while the two were engaged in cutting a bee tree.  In some mannerThompson got his head in the way of the axe Mr Brown was using.  The axe penetrated theskull.  Mr Thompson died four hours later leaving a wife and 3 small children. 1917 May 31-- Austin Ames died last Monday. Dr & Mrs Ames left Monday night to attend the funeralof their son. May 1917--  Mrs Sarah T McDonald, mother of our postmaster died at her home near Euchee Valley lastThursday and was laid to rest in Valley cemetery the following day.  She was born in HolmesCounty May 10th 1833 and moved to Walton with her parents when a small child.  She wasmarried to Daniel P McDonald September 29th 1858.  All her children, 5 sons & 3 daughterssurvive her.  For 64 yrs was a faithful member of the Presbyterian church.
