William E. Holley, Sr.

Dr. William E. Holley, Sr. age 75, a resident of Rt. 2, DeFuniak Springs and a practicing Dentist in Florala for over 40 years, passed away Saturday night [May 2, 1972] in a Pensacola Hospital. He was a graduate of the Emory University and was the first dentist with the School Dental Clinic in Covington County, Alabama.

He had extensive land holding in Walton County and had made his home at Buffalow Lake on Rt. 2, DeFuniak for the past 25 years.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Hallie Holley, Rt. 2, DeFuniak Springs, one daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Pickett of Melborn, Florida, three sons, Dr. W. E. Holley Jr. of Florala, Ben Holley, of Crestview, Gerald Holley of Chipley, Florida, one brother W. H. Holley of Headland, Ala., one sister, Mrs. B. T. [Mattie C.] Bridges of Hartford, seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Monday [May 3, 1971] from the First Baptist Church of Florala with Reverend Fred White and Reverend Joe Bates officiating. Burial followed in the Florala Greenwood Memorial Cemetery with Evans Funeral Home directing.
