1944 Dec 21:  Mr Ed Lofton formerly of Ozark, Ala passed away at home of brother T I Loftin, MondayDec 18.  Services were Tuesday and interment made in Magnolia. T M Pilcher died following an appendectomy at Panama City Sunday. A Widow and threesons survive, Pvt Carson Pilcher & Lt Morris Pilcher and Tech Sgt Ray Pilcher. Serviceswere held in Panama City on Tuesday. Mrs Norman Gillis (Nannie McSween) services were held Saturday at Euchee Valley Church.Sudden death of Mrs Gillis occurred  on December 13 at age of 86. Survivors include onedaughter Miss Kate Gillis, sons, W C & A M Gillis; sister Mrs Ed Crawford and brotherJ C McSween Sr.  Interment was made in Valley cemetery. Mr Henry Claud Miller died Thursday after days of illness. Services were held Friday withInterment in Magnolia. Survivors include a widow, one sister and two brothers. Charles Arthur Casey, infant son of Mr & Mrs T C Casey passed away at home SundayDec 10 near Gaskin, Fl. Services were held Monday with interment at Pentecostal Cemetery. Clayburn L Truett who received fatal injuries when a bus struck him and ran into the station onNov 28 in Columbus, Ga.  Services were held on Dec 1 1944, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery,in Macon, Ga.  He was born in Gaskin, Fl and made his home in Macon for two years.  Sur-viving are his wife, the former Vivian Coleman, a daughter Ouilla Truett, his parents Mr & MrsJohn C Truett of Gaskin, 2 sisters Miss Adell Truett and Mrs Horace Tillis, 2 brothers, ShermanG Truett and Vertice TruettRalph Frank Taylor, 36, died in Pensacola Hospital Wednesday.  He came here from Tnn.Services were conducted at Red Bay Friday.  He was survived by his wife Mrs Mary AlyceRigdon Taylor, a brother Clyde Taylor, sister Beatrice Bennett. 1944 Dec 28:   PFC Thomas Jimmerson, killed in action.  Mrs Josephine Jimmerson has been notifiedby the war department that her son Thomas A Jimmerson was killed in action in France onDec 12. Soldier Jimmerson, 25, lived near Glendale and was inducted in Army June 16 1942At Camp Blanding.  His mother now lives in Florala, Ala. Lt Herbert W Bohannon of Jacksonville Fla has been reported missing in action since Oct 21,in France.  He is brother to L L Bohannon of this city.  His wife and mother reside inJacksonville. Henry L Griggs died suddenly from heart attack at Saufley Field near Pensacola where hewas a civilian employee on Thursday Dec 21.  His wife formerly Miss Orene Gillis of thiscity is a teacher at Pensacola High School. Services on Saturday  with burial in EucheeValley Cemetery. The American Legion provided a military escort and military honorsat the grave as the deceased was  a captain in the Army in WWI. Contributed by Lois Danley and Sharon Watson
