1944 Feb 24  Lt Ewart T Sconiers dies in German Prison Camp. Born near Alaqua some 26 yrs ago toMr Warren & Maude Sconiers.   (no arrangements announced - Long article & picture) 1944 Feb 27 Mrs Mildred Plew Meigs 53, author of many children's poems died Tuesday at herValpariso home. Services were held Wednesday at the home.  Mrs Meigs was the daughterof the late James E Plew, she was born in Chicago and moved to Valpariso in 1923.  Sur-vivors include her husband, Clifford; her mother Mrs James Plew and sister Mrs C W Ruckel. WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENT:  Mrs Mary Douglass of Freeport announces the marriage of her brother J L Rice  80 yrs toMrs Christian Davis 70 yrs. Contributed by Lois Danley and Sharon Watson
