  • N. McGuire went to Florala, Saturday [April 27, 1912].

  • N.S. Townsend was up from Antioch, Saturday [April 27, 1912].

  • Quarterman McCaskill was here from Freeport, Monday [April 29, 1912].

  • [William Tally] Bludworth had the mumps last week.

  • [William Lee] Cawthon and R.G. Christian went to the Basin to fish, last week.

  • Will Laird writes that he likes Arizona, but misses Florida.

  • F.J. White was here last week looking after the well of the ice plant.

  • [James Issac] Langley brought some beautiful specimens of petrified wood to town Monday morning [April 29, 1912].

  • Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Bruce left Tuesday [April 30, 1912] for their summer home in Brooklyn, NY. He is in much better health than when he came down in the fall.

  • Mr. Mitchell the erecting engineer at the ice plant should have things running well in about 3 weeks

  • Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bruce will leave on July 13th [1912] to spend the summer in Scotland and Europe where Mr. Bruce will gather material for a series of illustrated lectures.

  • C.D. Frink was here Monday [April 29, 1912].

  • C.L. Choate left for his home in Tallahassee Monday morning [April 29, 1912].

  • Miss Ethel Senn returned Sunday [April 28, 1912] from Troy and Montgomery, visiting relatives..

  • M.E. Johnson, Dr. Stephens and J.M. Reynolds of [Mossy Head] were here Friday night [April 26, 1912].

  • A large number of young men attended the ball near Florala last Friday night [April 26, 1912].

  • WCTU [Woman’s Christian Temperance Union] will be held at the home of Mrs. Manning next Saturday [April 27, 1912] at 4 P.M.

  • Roubert (sic) Tourat left the first of the week for Pensacola and returned Wednesday [May 1, 1912] morning.

  • [Charles Augustus] Stanley was here Monday [April 29, 1912] on his way home from Pensacola where he has been for some time for eye treatment.

  • The Dixie Drug Co. is making improvements.

  • Dr. [Charles Braxton] McKinnon purchased a car from the M & H Auto Co.

  • Mrs. H.A. Sherman, spending the winter with friend Mrs. H.P. Lason, left for her home in Ashtabula, Ohio. She was accompanied by her son who was here on short visit.

  • E.V. Nedernach, Ford agent, left last night for Atlanta to bring back [Willis Herbert] Butler’s car.

  • Malcolm Bruce is planning installation of a water plant on Bruce Creek for electrical power.

  • “The Princess,” by Tennyson, will be given by the BYPU [Baptist Young People’s Union] of the DeFuniak Baptist Church, Friday night, May 10 [1912]. Features Mrs. Minnie Brown, of DeFuniak & Miss Minnie Tippins of Brewton, Ala. Article by Sidney J. Catts.

Company “K” News Notes - Major Harley Cawthon was assigned command to the Third Battalion, National Guard of Florida. Lt. Stinson was elected to Captain Co. K in his stead. Lt. John J. Kennedy, first Lt., Private John McSween Second Lt..  It is noted that Dr. [Charles Braxton] McKinnon is Major in the Medical Corps. The commissioned officers will leave next Saturday for St. Augustine to train under officers of the regular army. Their regular encampment will be in Chickamauga in July.
