The Breeze – May 13, 1943

John Duncan Anderson of Walton Co passed away at his home in Eucheanne Sunday night, Jan 9th after an illness of 2 yrs.  Mr Anderson was 63 yrs and lived an entire life-time in this county.  Services conducted at the home Monday and interment was made in the Valley Cemetery.  Survivors include widow and foster son Emory Campbell who is in the Army stationed at Eglin Field.

The Breeze – June 22, 1939

Came the word Friday night that Judge Angus Graham Campbell had dropped dead on the stage of the Pensacola High school auditorium while delivering the graduating address.  The deceased was son of Daniel & Emma Campbell, born Nov 19 1874 at Euecheeanne. Survivors: wife, son, A G Campbell Jr, 2 daughters Mrs Leo Andrews and Miss Carrie Mae; 2 brothers, G B & W O Campbell, 3 sisters, Miss Emma Campbell, Mrs C B McKinnon and Mrs Mary Campbell McKinnon.  Funeral was held Sunday from Presbyterian church.

Hotel change

Chas. McCaskill, after running the Freeport Hotel for the past year and a half, has purchased the Brown House and will run it as the McCaskill Hotel. He plans to upgrade, “laying particular stress on the cuisine.”

Memorial Day Observed

There was no formal observance, but “the old soldiers decorated all the graves of the Federal soldiers buried in the cemetery and hung wreathes on the cemetery gates in honor of the Confederate dead buried there.”

New Shipyard at Freeport

AD Stanley was up from Freeport last week telling us he bought the property of CH Rutan and will erect a new Shipyard with ways large enough to handle any of the bay craft normally serviced at Pensacola and the Narrows.
